Shared Canvas: Celebrating Family and Art at the Station Gallery

Winter in Ontario brings a certain stillness that naturally pulls me back into the studio. This past season was a significant milestone for my journey as an artist. At the Station Gallery 33rd Annual Juried Exhibition in Whitby, Ontario, I was honoured to receive 1st Prize in the adult category.

My winning piece, inspired by the landscape of Bon Echo Provincial Park in Ontario, explores the concept of quiet resilience. It's a great feeling to know that the emotions I pour into my work are truly resonating with those who view it.

The Proudest Moment However, as deeply grateful as I am for my own award, the true highlight of the entire season belonged to my son.

That same evening, he was awarded 3rd Prize in the youth category. Standing next to him at the opening reception and seeing his artwork displayed on the gallery walls filled me with an indescribable sense of pride.

Passing Down the Language of Art Art has always been my way of navigating the world. It is how I process memory and express a stillness that words often cannot capture. To see that same passion blooming in my son—to watch him find his own voice—is the greatest reward.

Sharing our love for art across generations, and experiencing this exhibition under one roof, felt like a beautiful bridge between our family's journey and our vibrant community here in Whitby.

With Gratitude I want to extend my warmest thanks to the jurors and the incredible team at the Station Gallery for hosting such a meaningful exhibition, and to everyone who came out to support the local arts during the busy holiday season.

We are both back in our studios now, fueled by the warmth of that evening and ready to see what the rest of 2026 brings to our canvases.
